This may be interesting information: "Cereus estevesii was last seen in 2002, when all of the habitat where it grew, with the exception of a 1 x 2 km area, was cleared for agro-industrial cultivation of biofuels. Hence the species is listed as Critically Endangered/Possibly Extinct in the Wild, or even Possibly Extinct assuming the only known location has disappered, as it is very likely that the biofuel fields have been extended further since the last surveys.
