Governing Council member and major donor to Waterford Kamhlaba UWCSA; Trustee of United World Colleges Trust of South Africa Monwabisi Fandeso (WK 1971-77) is Chairman and Vice President of Sales and Operations at Shell South Africa. He was previously Operations Director of SAB Miller Africa, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of beer and carbonated soft drinks. Other roles have included CEO of the Land and Agricultural Development Bank, a State-owned and privately funded development finance institution that accounts for over half the total agricultural financing in South Africa. Monwabisi is a graduate of the Senior Executive Programme at Columbia Business School, and completed his MBA at the Wharton School, University of Philadelphia. He is a member of the Institute of Directors and the Aircraft and Pilots Association.

Thulani Gcabashe (WK 1970-74); Governing Council member of Waterford Kamhlaba UWCSA Thulani Gcabasche (WK 1970-74) is the Chief Executive of Eskom, the national electricity provider in South Africa, and Chairman of Eskom Enterprises. He began his career with Eskom in 1993 as an Electrification Manager in Durban, and was previously a Director at Vanderverre Apsey Robinson & Associates (VARA), architects and planners. He has a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from Ball State University in the USA.

Randall W Horton (WK 1970-72) Randy Horton (WK 1970-72) is the founder and President of SideMark Corporate Furniture in Silicon Valley, California. He started DesignMark in 1984 to provide space planning and facilities consulting services to the fast-paced companies of the Silicon Valley. In 1986, he established SideMark Corporate Furniture to provide contract furnishings to his corporate clients. SideMark has featured six times in the last decade in Business Journal’s ‘Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies in Silicon Valley’. Randall has consulted with a variety of high-tech companies in the Silicon Valley area for the past 21 years. His clients include Netscape, Yahoo!, IBM and many others. He is a licensed Interior Designer in the State of California and has been a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers since 1982.

Anna Koblanck (WK 1990-91)

Anna Koblanck (WK 1990-91) is currently working as the Africa correspondent for Swedish daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter. She studied philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford University then spent a year teaching English in China. She later completed a one year post-graduate course in Journalism at Stockholm University, before commencing her journalism career as a financial reporter for a British newswire, and later at a Swedish financial newspaper. Anna then accepted a position at Dagens Nyheter, the leading morning newspaper in Sweden. Four years later she was posted to Johannesburg, as the Africa correspondent. Anna's first book, "A Few Days More", was published in 2004, and tells the story of a young Motswana woman living positively with HIV.

Treasure Maphanga (WK 1978-83)

Treasure Maphanga (WK 1978-83) is the Managing Director of Cilo Consulting in Swaziland. Cilo Consulting provides professional services in strategic and people management, institutional reform and enterprise development for the private sector, public sector and civil society in Africa. Treasure was previously the CEO of the Federation of Swaziland Employers and the Chamber of Commerce. Prior to that, she held a number of senior human resources positions in various private and public sector companies in Swaziland and South Africa. Treasure graduated from Trent University in Ontario, Canada with a BA in Economics sponsored by the Canadian International Development Agency.

Amanda West (WK 1976-80)

Amanda West (WK 1976-80); trustee of the Waterford School Trust (UK); member of the fundraising committee of the Waterford School Trust Amanda West (WK 1976-80) is the Global Head of Innovation at Reuters. She is responsible for innovation and experimentation, identifying transformational growth opportunities for the Reuters Group. This includes identifying, funding and governing a number of market changing experimental projects, taking them through to the production of a prototype with the direct involvement of potential customers and external partners. A Venture Board chaired by Reuters CEO Tom Glocer supports and steers the projects and the overall Innovation Program. Amanda previously held a number of different marketing roles at Reuters, most recently as the Director of Marketing Communications and prior to that in various Product Management roles. She holds a degree in Geography from Leeds University.

Alan Whiteside (WK, 1969-74)

Professor Alan Whiteside (WK, 1969-74); Governing Council member and donor to Waterford Kamhlaba UWCSA Alan Whiteside (WK, 1969-74) is the founder and Director of the Health Economics and HIV/AIDS Research Division (HEARD) at the University of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. The aim of the organisation is to conduct research on the socio-economic aspects of public health, currently focusing on the HIV/AIDS pandemic. HEARD also provides training, with the aim of building capacity across the public and private sectors and in civil society to make informed decisions and to create climates for constructive action on HIV/AIDS. Alan is a Professor at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a Visiting Professor at the School of Tropical Medicine of The University of Liverpool in the UK. He is an elected Member of Governing Council of the International AIDS Society and was a Commissioner of the UN Commission on HIV/AIDS and Governance in Africa. His major recent publications include two books: AIDS: The Challenge for South Africa co-authored with Clem Sunter (2000) and AIDS in the Twenty-First Century: Disease and Globalisation co-authored with Tony Barnett (2002; 2006).
